    Tahniah Malaysia!

With the games over, it can be said that the Malaysian contingent has done a very good job in achieving the target for this 19th edition commonwealth games, finishing 7th overall, behind Kenya on the medal tally. Amongst the event which Malaysia have won the medals are badminton, squash and weightlifting. All in all, the total medal tally is 12 gold, 10 silver and 13 bronze. Tahniah Malaysia!

*p/s: keep up the good work.. who knows, maybe in the next Olympics, Malaysia can win some gold medals...

Word of The Day: Dirty Jobs

Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe. A documentary that is different from others. From the title, ah yes, you would guessed it correctly. What comes to mind when you hear the word 'dirty'? Filthy, discuss-ting,black, rotten etc. All associated with the word, you name it. But, what makes this 'show' that makes me want to watch it even more? First, of course, is sort of 'educational' to know things that you may never even heard of before. In fact, this show is aired in Discovery Channel. Not sure what the exact time its aired, but I used to watch it after sending my siblings to school, in which the show starts at 7am. But, that's television. Where do I get the episodes from? From the CT (torrent), and currently finished season 5, and waiting for season 6. The second part is, the English itself. Yalah, where else could you improve your vocabulary and jargon of the English medium, TV lah (that's one channel though). The third, it makes you appreciate some of the things that you have. You feel lucky that it's not you that are doing the job. And thanks a lot because there are other people out there that are willing to do it. And last but not least, you will get to know some of the common things that you came across in life and makes you wonder; "how do you make those?".

Usually, at the start of each show, you will often hear; “Doing the kinds of jobs that make civilized life possible for the rest of us.” Sounds true ain't it? So, if you haven't watch the show or never even watch it, spend some time to watch it. It's hilarious and fun! Nevertheless, you might ask, what kind of 'jobs' that they show? How 'dirty' is it? Well, for some, if you were in their shoes, and, doing the job almost everyday, some had already doing the same job 10, 20, or even 30 years, you might get the hang of it (fortunately, that's what I often hear in the show). And you could say, although some of the jobs sounds weird, dangerous, risky and so on, but, for them, they get to earn an honest living, and at the same time loving what they do and they are the best in their field.

After 5 seasons watching the episodes, and I think almost close to 300 different jobs shown, some of the jobs that I came across are bat cave scavenger, worm dung farmer, sewer inspector, chick sexer, sludge cleaner, ostrich farmer, cheese maker, chimney sweeper, alligator farmer, mushroom farmer, plumber, garbage pit technician, skull cleaner, geo-duck farmer, coal miner, alpaca shearer, hoof cleaner, bell maker, mosquito control officer, bug breeder, mule logger, well digger, salt miner, billboard installer, snake wrangler, leather tanner, reef ball maker, exotic animal keeper, buoy cleaner, dairy cow midwife, tar rigger, sheep castrator, leech trapper, mannequin factory, vellum maker, maggot farmer, gourd maker, bologna maker, spider pharm, locomotive builder, mattress recycler, tofu maker, glass maker, toilet crusher, marble maker, worm grunter, animal control specialist and so on, just to name a few.

Desa IT 2009 Sarawak [#18]: Kek Lapis Dayang Salhah

We then reached the other side of the river.. we took a short walk from the jetty to the said place.. It is said that kek lapis yg diusahakan tu antara yg popular arr.. namenye Kek Lapis Dayang Salhah.. perniagaan tu dijalankan di rumahnya sendiri.. die convert beberape ruang kat umah die tu so org leh masuk..and pilih kek lapis yg nak lah.. what's interesting is that kek-kek lapis yg dijual tu sangatlah banyak..pelbagai aneka perisa dan warna.. mmg rambang matelah.. (*_*)..

Bagi mereka2 yg ber-bajet besar.. should be no problem la.. you can buy almost everything there is.. so to speak.. but, on the other hand, they also offer discounts and promotions such like buy 5 free 1.. or buy 3 free 1 for RM 10.. for example.. after we bought what we want.. we head back to the jetty.. naik sampan utk kembali ke seberang iaitu ke waterfront.. as the time nears.. its time for us to go home.. so.. we convene and wait for others lah.. after that..we waited for our bus to arrive..and then head on to the airport...

Desa IT 2009 Sarawak [#17]: Detour - Satok

After having spending the whole morning at the cultural village, we then head on to Bandar Kuching. Kuching is the capital state of Sarawak dan merupakan salah satu bandar terbesar di Sarawak lah.. selain dari Miri.. From the cultural village.. we reached the city centre.. perjalanan rase tak lame pun.. dekat je.. The bus drop us at Satok.. one of the area inside the city.. there kami berjalan2 window shopping lah.. katenye di situ nak cari2 souvenir ade.. mase kami ke sane tu they had this vendors or peniaga2 kecil.. dirikan kanvas besar.. and terletak atas jalan..dan jalan tu biasenye ditutup.. di kawasan tu gak ade pasar.. yang diorang2 ni adela sibuk cari ikan masin.. ade yg cari bende2 yg nak dibawa balik utk bagi sbg hadiah kpd keluarga atau rakan2 back home.. so.. we scattered around..

After that.. we then head on to the waterfront.. we took a local van, sort of a taxi lah.. remember that I had went there before?.. nevertheless.. its our next stop.. we then took a trip across the river on to the other side menaiki sampan.. not the sampan yg kecik tu.. yg ni aku leh katekan mcm bot.. tapi takdela sebesar bot.. we went to this one place where its popular for its kek lapis..
